Caucasian Chalk Circle Rehearsals Well Underway
Now that the New Year is established, the Shropshire Youth Theatre is keen to get back to work in rehearsals for their forthcoming play ‘The Caucasian Chalk Circle’ which is being sponsored by Lanyon Bowdler. The play is to run from Friday 23 to Saturday 24 March 2012 at Shrewsbury's Theatre Severn.
Chairman of the Youth Theatre Matthew Broomfield reports that the group has already attended their first puppetry workshop, which was a great opportunity for both the company and those individuals who will have specific responsibility for manipulating or interacting with the puppet on stage. The puppetry company assisting the production have provided a variety of examples to demonstrate to the group some of the basic principles of the skill, which everyone found both enjoyable and illuminating as the inanimate objects were seemingly brought to life!
The assistance from the puppetry company was a benefit in particular to the cast members who will be operating the two child puppets in the play as they were then able to do some further work with the professional puppeteer and begin to understand this complex process.
Tickets for the show can be booked via www.theatresevern.co.uk or by contacting the box office on 01743 281281.
