Charity 10K and Race for Life

July may have been the wettest for 50 years but that hasn’t stopped fitness fanatics, from local law firm Lanyon Bowdler, getting out there and raising more money for charity.

On Sunday 12 July keen athletes; David Marston-Jones, novice runner Dawn Humphries, Lynsey Cater and Kathryn Weaver joined 26,000 people at London’s Hyde Park Corner to take part in the annual 10k run. Whilst at Shrewsbury’s West Mid Showground Debbie Chatham stood on the starting line about to complete her 3k Race for Life.

Having lost her step mother-in-law to cancer 10 years ago, Debbie said, “it was a very emotional day as it brings back everything that you go through, also seeing all the messages people wear on their backs for the people they have lost, and also those that have survived, makes it all very moving.”

Down in London the runners were enjoying the sights of London and David finished the race in an impressive 40 minutes. Dawn, who had been training hard for the past 12 months, said “I am a complete novice runner and so I have never experienced anything like this before, the support we received was fantastic, I felt absolutely elated as I crossed the finishing line and had a fantastic sense of achievement.”

All wish to pass on their thanks for the generous sponsorship and support their friends, family and colleagues have shown them. Plans are already in place to repeat the events next summer!
