Employment Law and Pensions Seminars Across Shropshire and in Herefordshire

The Pension Act 2008 is due to come into force in 2012, and with this comes the legal duty upon employers to ensure that they enrol most employees into a pension scheme and contribute to their retirement.  The countdown has already begun, but are employers ready for these compulsory pensions?

This issue will be the main feature of forthcoming Employment Law and Pensions Seminars being held by Lanyon Bowdler, in association with Torquil Clark, during March 2011.  The events will be held across the Shropshire and Herefordshire area, and following the opening of Lanyon Bowdler’s office in Hereford on 1st December 2010, attendance at the firm’s first seminar in the town is offered free of charge.

Tuesday 22 March – Hereford Group Training Association, Holmer Road, Hereford
Thursday 24 March – Lanyon Bowdler Offices, Abbey Lawn, Shrewsbury
Tuesday 29 March – Park House Hotel, Park Street, Shifnal
Wednesday 30 March – Wynnstay Hotel, Church Street, Oswestry

Ian Hill, Pensions Technical Manager of Torquil Clark will be providing valuable guidance in respect of compulsory pension enrolment.

John Merry, the head of Lanyon Bowdler’s Employment department, will focus on the employment law aspects of pension changes, including managing salary reviews to achieve economies to off-set pension costs, and also the impact of pensions on maternity and paternity rights.  In addition, John will provide a general employment law update including in respect of the abolition of the default retirement age and the Agency Workers Regulations 2010.

All seminars will commence at 9.00am, with presentations starting at 9.30am, closing at approximately 1.00pm.  The cost is just £17.50 plus VAT, which will include food and refreshments.
