Enhancements to the Family Department in Oswestry

Lanyon Bowdler, particularly those based at the firm’s former LG Solicitors office in Oswestry, recently said goodbye to a much valued member of the family law team.

Val Powell, a Legal Executive, retired on 31 March.  Val qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives in 1993 and also became a member of the Law Society Family Law Panel.  In 2000, she became one of the first ILEX Fellow to qualify as an Advocate.  Val joined LG Solicitors over 6 years ago and continued her work, as part of the family team, following the merger of LG Solicitors and Lanyon Bowdler in May 2010.

Val comments “My time with the firm was the happiest of my career; however I have so much to look forward to in retirement, as I shall be spending more time with family and friends, and also at our weekend bolt-hole in Anglesey where we enjoy sailing.”

Despite Val’s retirement, the department continues to prosper and is strengthened by the presence of senior partner and head of the family law department, Peter Flint, who will spend time at the Oswestry office each week.  Peter reinforces the existing team of senior solicitor Caroline Yorke, and solicitor Meinir Jones

Peter has specialised in family law since 1975, he is a trained mediator and collaborative lawyer, as well as a member of Resolution and the Law Society Family Law Panel.  Peter is recognised for his expertise as he is listed as a leader in the field of family law by Chambers legal directory.

Partner Emma Wilde comments “I’m sad to see Val leave but wish her a very happy retirement.  Our family law department in Oswestry continues to thrive and the added presence of Peter Flint, with his vast experience and knowledge, can only further enhance the services we offer to our clients.”
