Pride of Shropshire Winners
Lanyon Bowdler were thrilled to attend the Pride of Shropshire awards last night as main sponsors of the event as well as sponsoring the Courage Award. They had the opportunity to present the Courage Award to the winner of that category, 9 year old Sophie Foxley, for the immense courage she has shown in fighting leukaemia.
“We are delighted that Sophie won this award – it is much deserved” said managing partner David Battisby. “She is such an inspiration and it was a honour to meet her. The Award Ceremony was a moving experience and It was excellent to see the recognition that everyone received”
The overall winner of the night was Meole’s Got Talent, from the Meole Estate, Shrewsbury. There was also a posthumous award for police constable Ricky Gray, who was tragically killed in the line of duty in Shrewsbury last May. His widow Jenny-Lee Gray collected the trophy and received a standing ovation.
The Pride of Shropshire Awards have been created by the Shropshire Star and The Shropshire Partnership to give unsung heroes the recognition they deserve.
