Building your career with Lanyon Bowdler

Recruitment of Trainee Solicitors.

Lanyon Bowdler takes on four to six trainees each year, so with training contracts usually being for two years we generally have at least eight trainees with us at any one time, and usually around ten.

Trainees usually spend six months in each “seat”, so they gain experience in four areas of work.

Listen to our podcast Training to be a Solicitor at Lanyon Bowdler via the link – this will give you an idea as to our recruitment process and what you may expect during any interview are you are invited to as well as, if you are successful, information prior to commencing your training contract with us.

Awards

We were delighted to win the ‘Best Recruiter – Small Firm’ category in the 2019 LawCareers.Net Awards.

We won the ‘Best Trainer – Small Firm’ award in both 2018 and 2017.

We have previously had many nominations for the LawCareers.Net’s Training and Recruitment Awards for either “Best Recruiter-Small Firm”, or “Best Trainer-Small Firm”. We also previously won awards in 2004 and 2009. We are delighted to receive this recognition of the standard of our trainee solicitor training programme.

The trainee solicitors nominated us for these awards, and the following are quotes from a couple of previous submissions:

“I cannot fault the experience that I have had. I have seen an increase in responsibilities, coupled with as much support as I need; every single staff member is approachable and willing to help. I have been given the opportunity to express how I would like my training contract to be shaped by having a choice of seats. I feel privileged to be able to say that I have trained with this firm.”

“I can’t speak highly enough of the client interaction afforded to trainees at the firm. From almost my first week, I was meeting clients and being exposed to real life legal issues. This has given my fellow trainees and me a practical, human approach to solving legal issues that you just can’t get sitting at a computer all day.”

Testimonials

What our colleagues say.

I have been supported by Lanyon Bowdler throughout my career. Starting as a legal support assistant in 2016, undertaking my LPC part time, and then through my training contract. I am now recognised as an associate solicitor. It has been a supportive and friendly place to work.
