Profile / Experience

Profile / Experience

Andrew is head of the Dispute Resolution Team and is based in the Telford office, where he also oversees the separate Debt Recovery Unit. Principally, he meets the needs of commercial clients in the West Midlands but his caseload includes national and international organisations.

His practice consists mainly of larger commercial disputes for repeat commercial clients in the manufacturing industry but he still acts for private individuals in significant and/or complex matters. In particular, he regularly acts for owner/managers involved in shareholder disputes, advising in respect of unfair prejudice, derivative actions and partnership disputes. This includes farming partnerships and negotiating beneficial settlements.

Andrew carries out repeat work for a multi-national insurance company on an on-going basis which demonstrates how he builds a solid relationship with his clients. He also acts for a large building contractor acting for its subsidiaries all over the country, having a particular specialism and interest in construction and engineering disputes.

Commercial dispute resolution makes up Andrew’s principal day-to-day caseload with breach of contract and/or negligence claims making up the biggest proportion of his practice. He has a particular interest in professional negligence, regularly advising on such matters.

Andrew has also built up a specialism in agricultural dispute resolution and has fostered strong links with the farming community and the NFU, particularly in the Staffordshire region. This has involved advising on not just contractual/negligence matters but also partnership/shareholder disputes, judicial review and arbitration.

Andrew has experience of dealings with courts and HM Land Registry Adjudicator from start to finish but strongly advocates alternative dispute resolution and has dealt with numerous complex multi-party mediations including one within a prison.

Andrew joined Lanyon Bowdler as a trainee in 2001 before qualifying in 2003. He joined the partnership in 2013.

Andrew is recognised as a Recommended Lawyer in the 2024 edition of The Legal 500, in which it states ‘Andrew Pegg spearheads the practice, with considerable experience in acting on commercial disputes for clients in the manufacturing sector, as well possessing specialist expertise in relation to agricultural dispute resolution’.  The directory also comments on Andrew in relation to debt recovery: ‘Andrew Pegg leads the team with his vast experience in acting for clients in the manufacturing industry, as well as shareholder disputes, unfair prejudice and farming partnerships, among other areas. He also carries out repeat work for a multinational insurance company.’
