Why Invest in Health and Safety?

New legislation regarding health and safety and employment law is increasing maximum penalties employers can face for any breach of regulations; it is therefore not an issue any employer can afford to ignore. By consulting a well qualified employment law solicitor who is well versed in modern health and safety regulations, you could save your business a great deal of time and money.

Completing regular health and safety risk assessments will significantly reduce the costs that will inevitably follow an accident or incident of ill-health on your business premises, costs that may not necessarily be covered by your insurance policy, including:

  • Claims on employer and public liability insurance
Damage to buildings, equipment or vehicles
  • Attributable production and/or general business loss
  • Fines resulting from prosecution by the enforcement authority
  • Sick pay
  • Increases in insurance premiums resulting from the accident
  • Compensation possibly not fully covered by insurance due to excess payments
  • Legal representation for any claim or prosecution
  • Recruitment and training of replacement staff
  • Loss of goodwill and poor corporate image
  • Production delays
  • Overtime payments
  • Lost time for other employees e.g. first aider
  • Lower employee morale leading to reduction in productivity

How can Our Employment Law Solicitors Help?

There is a potentially baffling amount of health and safety legislation with which business owners are required to comply, and new rules and regulations are constantly being added. Our employment law experts will keep on top of new legislation, ensure full risk assessments are regularly carried out for your business and will ensure appropriate action is taken in response to any issues uncovered.

Issues may include:

  • Unsafe working environments
  • Transport issues
  • Inadequate health and safety training

If problems are found with your health and safety procedures, or you are found to be non-compliant with current regulations, we are able to help, providing anything from dealing with transport issues to a full overhaul of your Health and Safety procedures. You can choose to implement the changes yourself with guidance, or leave it to our expert Jo Griffiths to implement them for you.
We also have extensive experience of handling Health & Safety prosecutions in Court, and always take a practical, realistic and personal approach to our clients' issues.

What's the Cost?

All potential clients are welcome to take advantage of a free, no obligation audit, which will help to identify potential problem areas in current health and safety procedures. Following your initial free health and safety audit, you will be given a breakdown of the work that is considered necessary, in order of priority.

At Lanyon Bowdler we always provide our clients with a fixed fee quotation, which is competitive with non-legal health and safety professionals. From the moment you make first contact with our law firm, we will put you in touch with an employment law expert who will consider your requirements and discuss fees, ensuring you are kept fully up to date with the progress of your audit and any subsequent health and safety improvements.
