Profile/Experience

Stephen is a Solicitor Advocate based at the Shrewsbury offices. He qualified as a solicitor in 2001 and joined Lanyon Bowdler in 2008.

A highly experienced duty solicitor, Stephen regularly appears at local Youth, Magistrates’ and Crown Courts in addition to representing clients at police stations for a wide spectrum of offences.

Stephen covers all aspects of criminal law ranging from summary to indictable only offences, and has been handling motoring offences since he qualified as a solicitor.

He has particular expertise in dealing with youth matters and has helped develop a niche motoring law department within the firm. Stephen provides regular criminal and motoring law updates for the Lanyon Bowdler blog.

Stephen has previously received the national Criminal Lawyers' Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year Award, presented by Cherie Blair, who commented that she was deeply moved by letters of support that Stephen had received in recognition of his work.

Legal 500 Recommendation

The 2019 edition of The Legal 500 recognises Stephen as a Next Generation Lawyer, stating that he is 'helpful, well-informed, sensible and good in court' and specialises in working with clients who have little to no experience of the criminal system, especially in youth matters.
