Proprietary estoppel

How many times do people promise to leave something to someone when they die, only to fail to carry out their promise? The subject of the promise may be a car, a painting, a house, or anything that they own. Frequently, there is nothing that can be done in this type of situation but, depending on the circumstances, it may be possible to take legal action to satisfy the promise that was made. This is a difficult area of the law which requires expert advice. Lanyon Bowdler can provide that advice.

Associate solicitor Claire Vale leads our contentious probate department and is one of only two members locally of the Association of Contentious Trusts and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS). Claire can be contacted on (01743) 280211 or at the Shrewsbury office on 0800 652 3371.
