Neil qualified in 1989 and is partner and head of the personal injury department at Lanyon Bowdler. He is listed on the Law Society's Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Panels. Neil is also on the Headway Solicitors Approved List and an Accredited Brain Injury Specialist and senior litigator at APIL.
Neil is a former Personal Injury Lawyer of the Year (claimant) in the Eclipse Proclaim Personal Injury Awards and was part of the 2018 Clinical Negligence Team of the Year. These achievements demonstrate the superb reputation Neil has within the industry. He has acted for a large number of claimants who have suffered serious, multiple injuries including acquired brain injury, spinal injury and amputees, subjects in which he has a special interest.
Neil was instrumental in setting up Lanyon Bowdler’s Brain Injury Focus Group and the Brain Injury Forums in Shrewsbury and Hereford, which provide a fantastic networking opportunity for brain injury professionals.
Neil has acted for clients injured in France, Netherlands, USA, Croatia, Falklands, and India, amongst others. Neil is a member of the Pan-European Organisation of Personal Injury Lawyers.
He has much experience of assisting clients with accessing funds to pay for care and case management, therapy, special equipment, transport, accommodation and to replace lost income. This is often carried out under the Personal Injury Rehabilitation Code.
Neil has conducted many cases where compensation in excess of £1 million has been paid, several in excess of £5 million and one over £10 million. He currently has conduct of several very high value brain injury and lower limb amputation cases. He has extensive experience of obtaining large awards of compensation through negotiation, Court or mediation. He has acted in many fatal accident cases including helping bereaved families with Coroner’s Inquests. Neil also has a wide knowledge of experienced and specialist expert witnesses and barristers.
Neil has received exceptional feedback from clients and counsel in The Legal 500 for excellence over many years. Having been Personal injury Solicitor of the Year in 2009, he has built on that success and given his market leading reputation for maximum severity/catastrophic injury cases can rightly be said to be at the top of the profession in his field.

The 2020 edition of Chambers UK recognises Neil at Band 1 and states: Neil Lorimer "has a fantastic caseload, is not afraid to argue difficult points and has an exceptional eye for detail," comments a source. He maintains an impressive practice representing clients in claims involving serious injuries including amputations, brain injuries and fatalities as a result of RTAs.
