Profile / Experience

David regularly works on large bills of costs, and costs budgets ranging from £500,000 up to and in excess of £1,000,000, progressing these matters to detailed assessment where required.

He prepares bills of costs, costs budgets, and assists with the recovery of costs for the teams.

David has worked in costs since 2013 and qualified as a costs lawyer in 2017 with a specialism in personal injury and commercial costs. He then developed his experience into high value personal injury and clinical negligence work and has significant knowledge in this specialism.

David joined Lanyon Bowdler in March 2022 as a costs manager for the Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury Team where he leads the in-house Costs Department. In June 2025 David was promoted to senior associate costs manager.

David undertakes his own advocacy in relation to costs matters. He regularly attends and makes submissions at costs and case management conferences.

David also assists with the recovery of costs deductions from client damages. Including making applications to the Court for approval of costs deductions where the client is a protected party.

When not at work David likes to spend his time with family and friends. He enjoys playing golf and squash and watching Chelsea.
