Profile / Experience

Anne is a member of Resolution and in 2014 she was accredited as a member of The Law Society Family Law Scheme. In 2018 she was appointed an associate of the firm.

She attended the University of Cardiff and achieved a 2:1 Honours Degree in Law and Politics in 2005. She subsequently completed a Post Graduate Legal Executive Diploma in 2006 and qualified as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives in January 2012.

Anne joined the family department at Lanyon Bowdler in January 2007, shortly after completing her studies. Since then she has been advising and representing clients in relation to family matters. Anne is experienced in all areas of family law but takes a particular interest in private Children Act proceedings, divorce and related financial matters. Anne prides herself on her friendly, efficient yet thorough approach to her work.

Recent cases undertaken by Anne include an application for an enforcement order which secured the resumption of contact on behalf of the father after mother breached the previous court order. Anne was successful in showing the court that there was no justification for contact to cease. Anne has also undertaken a number of emergency applications to the court for prohibited steps orders to prevent a parent from removing a child from the other parent’s care when serious concerns have been raised regarding the other parent’s care of the child or lifestyle. Most recently she has dealt with both applications for removal of children from the UK jurisdiction and an urgent application to prevent the unlawful removal which was dealt with by the High Court in London. She has also dealt with a number of financial cases and is regularly able to negotiate a fair settlement without having to resort to court proceedings. Frequently, such orders will include an order for sale of property, pension sharing orders and periodical payments of significant value.

Anne spent her childhood in South Shropshire and remains in the Shropshire area to be close to friends and family. Outside of work Anne has many interests including reading, history, going to the gym and spending time with her daughter. During the summer months she can be found at various fetes and festivals or at the beach.

What our clients say.

I think I am very lucky to have engaged Anne and have had the law to support me! Navigating family law is a challenging painstaking slow process, and Anne has a great knowledge of that and those processes – there are many forms, and applications to be made, draft orders written, and she guided me through those, always explaining patiently whilst moving things forwards, setting out pros and cons, being positive but being clear on risks and not creating too much expectation. Anne is always quick, not allowing time to lapse, writing up everything. My experience of Lanyon Bowdler and Anne Lewis was extraordinary and impacted on the most challenging and important issue I will ever experience in my life. I am very grateful and would recommend them absolutely.
