Small Claims Court Proceedings: A Guide – Katie Baker
Associate Solicitor.
Profile / Experience
Katie started her career in law as a paralegal in personal injury litigation in 2010. She qualified as a solicitor in 2013 and has a wealth of experience in a diverse range of litigation.
Katie also acquired her Higher Rights of Audience upon qualification as she wanted to be able to offer her clients advocacy as well as sound legal advice.
Whilst Katie offers advice and guidance on a broad range of disputes and remedies, she has a keen interest in the following:
• AHA Tenancies
• Care Home Fee Disputes
• Continuing Healthcare Claims
• Landlord and Tenant
• TOLATA / Cohabitation Claims
Katie is a fluent Welsh speaker and understands the importance of providing clients with a professional service in their native language. She also has a sound knowledge of the North Wales coast and the issues that frequently affect her clients within that area.
She is a keen cyclist and has completed a number of sportives including Ride London, Etape Eryri and Gran Fondo Conwy. Her cycling events are often used to help her raise money for Bowel Cancer UK, a charity which her family has been successful in raising over £120,000 for over the past fifteen years. Katie is also a reluctant runner who much prefers taking part in her local Junior Parkrun with her children than training for her own events.
In her spare time, Katie is a volunteer board member at Crest Co-Operative, a local charity which focuses on supporting its local community, through re-use initiatives as well as retraining and employment opportunities. She has also recently become a volunteer board member at a local Cylch Meithrin which promotes education through the medium of welsh.
